Online High School – What Are Classes Like
I am the parent of a sophomore high school student who just changed from public to online school. The school she was attending had multiple problems, not the least of which was the No Child Left Behind high stakes testing. You see, my daughter was making the honor roll in her traditional HS. She was presented with a beautiful certificate in a ceremony by the Principal. Shortly after that she failed the state exams. At that point I didn’t see how that school could benefit her any more. While some of her teachers were well meaning, she was not learning the minimum information needed to pass a standardized test. These tests determine your future.
We shopped and researched many online high schools. There are more than 200 of them advertised on the internet. Whew! This is not an easy task. You will undoubtedly shop for yourself, and choose the best school for your own situation.
So what are the classes like in this virtual high school At first we had some computer glitches. My daughter has a MacBook, and she had trouble synchronizing with the PCs at her school. The staff were quite helpful however, and those problems were quickly solved. Now she is powering through lessons at high speed.
